Regarding Reference Photos…

I prefer to use my own photos for your painting. It may or may not be possible to work from your photos. If you provide the photographs, it is important that these requirements MUST be met to ensure the best possible portrait.

If they are not of this quality, it may not be possible to proceed with the commission.

• Photos must be clear, in focus, close up, perfectly exposed and of professional quality.
• The subject must be clean and well turned out, in the pose and lighted in the way you wish to see them in the painting.
• A variety of other general photographs of the subject will also be required.
• Note: that changes can be made, as braiding the mane, brightening or opening an eye, putting the ears forward, removing a bridle, removing a scar, etc.
• For smaller animals, you MUST shoot at eye level.

Regarding Digital photos; photos may be emailed or mailed to me on CD. Please be aware that due to different conditions of monitors, printers, ink etc, once the image is printed out, colour may not be 100% accurate. Please send the largest files possible. As with photographs, please indicate favourite pose, truest colour etc. Using digital photography will allow you to take many more images, please include all of them on CD as they will all help.

I cannot stress enough, the quality of the photos. I want to be sure that you receive the best portrait possible of your pet.
If you are considering sometime in the future having your horse or pet’s portrait done, it is best to take the photos when they are in their best condition, please don’t wait until it is too late. Please refer to “Photo Tips” on this website for examples of what I need to work from, and if you wish to try.

Please contact me to book a time for a photo session. Depending on how prepared you are and how cooperative the animal is, it may take as little as 15 -30 minutes. There is a travel charge of $35.00 per hour for locations outside of the Milton area. For further distances please contact me. You will receive a complete set of 4” x 6” prints.

Photos of different subjects can be combined in one painting. A 50% deposit required on order. Photos will be returned. Generally, allow 4 weeks for completion, but please contact me to see if specific delivery dates may be accommodated. All work is guaranteed

Note: Sizes are all approximate, as each portrait is unique and size may change due to composition. Prices are in Canadian dollars, PST, framing and shipping are extra. Special sizes and compositions will be quoted.
